Mobster for Zapier lets any Zap run a task or a saved workflow on your iPhone and use the answer in its next step. You sign in to Mobster once. The Zap runs through Mobster Remote, so Mobster for Mac must be open, awake and signed in, with Remote on. Zapier never sees your phone. It sends the words of a task to Mobster on your Mac, and Mobster runs them. Mobster asks you on your Mac before anything that sends, buys, posts or deletes, and a Zap can’t approve it for you. Passwords, one-time codes and card numbers in an answer are masked as ••••••, and Mobster doesn’t read out a code when a task asks for one.

Connect Zapier

  1. Open Mobster’s Zapier invite and accept it. Mobster’s Zapier app is private until Zapier lists it, and the invite adds it to your Zapier account. Add to Zapier in Settings › Connectors › Use Mobster from… opens the same page.
  2. In the Zap editor, choose Mobster as the app for a step, then Sign in.
  3. Sign in to Mobster Remote’s web page with the account you use in Mobster for Mac, and choose the Mac and the iPhone if you have more than one.
  4. Mobster for Mac asks “Allow Zapier to use Sam’s iPhone?”. Choose Allow.
The connection can use that one iPhone and the three permissions every Remote app gets (What apps can and can’t do). Settings › Remote lists Zapier like Claude or ChatGPT, and Remove disconnects it at once and stops its running tasks. Mobster pauses the connection after five approvals you decline in a row.

What a Zap can do

Each action returns the task’s Task ID, Status, Answer and, when the task produced structured data, Data (JSON). A task that needs you returns Status waiting_for_approval with Waiting for your OK to set. The step doesn’t fail: the task waits for you in Mobster, and Task Finished starts a Zap when it ends.

Pick a workflow

Run Workflow on iPhone lists only workflows that have a webhook URL. A webhook URL is how you tell Mobster that another tool may start a workflow, so a workflow you never opened to other tools is never listed or started, and the Zap can’t reach it by typing its name.
  1. Open the workflow in Workflows, choose Edit, then More.
  2. Under Start from another tool, choose Make a webhook URL. Zapier doesn’t use the URL or its secret. Having one is the permission.
Choose the workflow in the Zap, and the step shows one field for each blank. A blank left empty takes its default, and a blank with no default is required. A value is text of at most 300 characters. A Zap can’t change a workflow’s steps, its app, the iPhone or where its result goes.

Follow a task to its end

Zapier’s steps end after 30 seconds, and a task on a phone often takes longer. Start the task in one Zap, and build a second Zap on Task Finished. Task Finished checks every 1 to 15 minutes, depending on your Zapier plan, and returns up to 25 recent tasks that ended. It lists only tasks this connection started. A task started in Claude, in the Mac app or by a webhook URL isn’t listed. Each task starts a Zap once.

When a step fails

A step fails with the sentence Mobster gives an assistant, so the Zap history says what to do. A step that reaches your Mac but gets no answer in 30 seconds ends with “Mobster on Sam’s MacBook Pro didn’t answer in time. The task may still be running”. Mobster doesn’t repeat it: check Task Finished or Mobster before you run the Zap again.

For developers

The app is in integrations/zapier/ in the Mobster repository. It signs in with Mobster Remote’s OAuth server (PKCE, no client secret) and calls the /mcp endpoint with tools/call for phone_task, run_workflow, list_workflows and list_tasks. There is no second API. Run its tests with npm test in that folder; they use no network.
