# Use Mobster from Windsurf

> Add Mobster's MCP server to Windsurf with one command, so its agent can check iOS apps on a simulator and drive your iPhone.

Mobster adds its MCP server to Windsurf's own config. Windsurf then lists Mobster's tools (`verify_start`, `screen`, `tap`, `run_tests` and the rest of [the MCP server](https://docs.mobster.dev/mcp-server.md)).

## Add it

```sh theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
mobster mcp install windsurf
```

It prints what it changed:

```text theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
Mobster's MCP server: /Applications/Mobster.app/Contents/MacOS/mobster-agent mcp
  Windsurf        added      ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json
Restart Windsurf to load the change.
New sessions of the other clients pick it up. Check it with `mobster mcp doctor`.
```

Add `--dry-run` to see the change first and write nothing. Run the command again and nothing changes. `mobster mcp install --all` sets up every agent it finds, Windsurf included.

## What it writes

The entry goes in `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`. Windsurf became Devin Desktop on 2 Jun 2026. Its docs name `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json`, its FAQ keeps the old path, so Mobster writes both when their folders exist.

```json theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "mobster": {
      "command": "/Applications/Mobster.app/Contents/MacOS/mobster-agent",
      "args": ["mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

Mobster keeps the rest of the file as it is, with a copy of the old one beside it (`.mobster-backup`). It writes the full path to `mobster` because apps opened from the Dock don't see your shell's `PATH`, and it never writes a key. Windsurf has no project-level MCP file, so `--project` skips it.

## Check it

```sh theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
mobster mcp doctor
```

The doctor starts the server the way Windsurf does, lists its tools and calls `status`. Then it checks that the Windsurf entry runs a `mobster` that exists, and says which command to run if it doesn't. Restart Windsurf, then open Cascade's MCP panel.

## Add the skill

```sh theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
mobster mcp install windsurf --with-skill
```

This copies the `mobster` skill into `~/.codeium/windsurf/skills`, so the agent also knows the verify loop and the rules for a real iPhone: ask before anything that sends, buys, posts or deletes, and never enter a passcode.

## Take it out

```sh theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
mobster mcp install windsurf --remove
```

This removes the `mobster` entry and leaves your other servers alone. Windsurf's own reference for the file is at [https://docs.devin.ai/desktop/cascade/mcp](https://docs.devin.ai/desktop/cascade/mcp).
